Alexander (Sasha) Hawman, Student Advocate

Student Advocate

Sasha Hawman was born in Moscow, Russia and was placed into an orphanage as an infant. He and his brother were blessed that an American couple adopted them and moved them to Oregon. In 2001, Sasha and his family moved to Tucson where he attended Townsend Middle School and later graduated from Sabino High School. In 2010, Sasha received a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Services and is currently pursuing His Master’s degree in Public Administration, both at the University of Arizona. Coursework in a non-profit management class inspired Sasha to make a difference in this community. He is grateful to work for a single-purpose organization like Youth On Their Own. He is determined to help every homeless youth in Tucson to graduate from high school and develop the skills to become upstanding citizens.

Urgent Alert to All!

Recently, the Youth On Their Own office was notified that teens/youth identifying themselves as YOTO students were canvasing local neighborhoods, requesting monetary donations door–to-door. If this should occur, please DO NOT give money or anything else to these people and notify the police immediately!

Youth On Their Own students and organization do not solicit “door-to-door” and Youth On Their Own students do not canvas neighborhoods. Donations made to Youth On Their Own are made directly to YOTO either by mail, at yoto.org, or at YOTO events.

We thank you for your continued support and urge you to exercise caution when anyone comes to your door for a donation.
