Join YOTO at Tucson Hop Shop’s Second Annual Pride Night and Inaugural Queer Bazaar! We are so happy to be partnering with Tucson Hop Shop for this exciting event, an evening of revelry, outreach, engagement and PRIDE to benefit the Reveille Men’s Chorus and THEM Youth Ensemble. The fun takes place on June 29th from 6-10PM at Tucson Hop Shop Beer Garden (3230 N Dodge Blvd, Tucson.)
This is the first year for the Queer Bazaar, but the second annual Pride Night. This year, notes Jesse Jean of Tucson Hop Shop, the goal was to focus on “networking opportunities, outreach, education on LGBTQ+ issues and causes.” The goal was ultimately to make it an event that was “really impactful and important to the community,” notes Jean.
In fact, it was their commitment to the community that led Tucson Hop Shop to partner with YOTO. “LGBTQ+ youth make up a disproportionate share of the homeless youth population,” says Jean. “To be able to present for them an artistic outlet was an opportunity we did not want to pass up.”
Additionally, event organizers wanted to support Reveille Men’s Chorus and THEM Youth Ensemble. Proceeds from Pride Night and Queer Bazaar will go to these groups. Reveille Men’s Chorus is a member of The Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA), an international association of LGBT choruses founded in 1982. It’s a four part chorus with over 60 members from various ages, gender expressions, and musical backgrounds. THEM Youth Ensemble was founded in collaboration with Desert Voices, Reveille’s sister chorus, and Southern Arizona Aids Foundation (SAAF). It is Tucson’s first LGBTQ+ & allied youth chorus, for youth ages 13-24.
Best of all, Tucson Hop Shop is selling special Pride logo shirts and tanks now and through the month of June (or until they run out.) If you purchase one and wear it to the event, you’ll get $1 off your first beer. DJ Mijito will do a live DJ set, and Meg’s Mugs will offer face painting to those who are interested.
All are welcome to attend!
