With the holidays just around the corner, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate a special group of people who recently Spread the Warmth and some holiday cheer to YOTO students at Pueblo High School by delivering cozy, plush blankets and $25 gift cards.
The students’ were treated to a delicious lunch along with treats and goodies organized by social worker Andrea Vazquez, counselor Marian Finley, and community liaison Mario Bala Matanza. Teacher Christina Benitez also pitched in to decorate the space. Blankets were set out on tables for students to pick the one they liked best. Handwritten holiday cards were also given to each student along with gift cards and stipend checks. Holiday music helped set a cheerful tone. The lunchtime party was warm and joyful for all!
YOTO would like to shout out everyone that made this special celebration possible – from all the donors to volunteers to liaisons to school staff! Every single one of you plays an important role in ensuring YOTO students feel cared for and we thank you for that.
It’s not too late to donate blankets and gift cards ($25 to Walmart or Target) to homeless youth. YOTO will be accepting donations until the end of the year. For some students this will be the only present they will receive this holiday season so please help us create a warm and happy holiday for homeless youth in our community.
Please drop off your donation to 1660 N Alvernon Way from Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. Kindly note, our office will be closed on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1.
