Arizona ranks as the fifth worst state for child homelessness, at any given moment there are around 5,000 homeless youth in Pima County. Youth On Their Own is taking on the community’s social issue one child at time.

The non-profit has now helped 1631 struggling Pima County students so far this school year, a record number for the non-profit, and their goal is to give everyone of them the tools they need to succeed.

High school senior, Jose Chua, has been going to YOTO for the last year. The organization has helped him with financial assistance, basic human needs and guidance.

“They help make it easier,” said Chua. “They support me, listen to me, if I come in for a problem they tell me to just sit down and talk about it.”
