This week, we’ll be sharing a light-hearted volunteer spotlight on our favorite furry friend: Izzy Plecity! You may have had the opportunity to meet Izzy (who actually belongs to one of our staff members) on Fridays when she happily greets all visitors at the front door. Get to know a little more about Izzy and why she loves being at YOTO!

First Name: Izzy

Where are you from originally?
I’m from the Pima Animal Shelter, but I’ve lived in the Tucson area for 8 (human) years.

What was your first job?
My first job was rounding up small children and other animals.

Where have you worked/volunteered?
I currently have a full-time gig at the dog park, where I keep everyone safe.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Chasing my tail, of course.

Please share one of your favorite quotes.
“Sometimes you gotta risk it for the biscuit.”

If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
An English Shepard. I hear they are the most smart, funny, talented and well-rounded animals on the planet!

What do you like to do when you’re not volunteering at YOTO?
I like to chase my tail, go for rides in the car, and spend time with my friends at the park.

Why do you enjoy volunteering at YOTO?
I enjoy the snacks and attention I get from all the many lovely faces that come through the front door. The donors that come in are the nicest people in the world! They bring me the best lamb bites and pet my coat… and in return, I lick their face.
