Katie is one of YOTO’s incredible volunteers whose friendly smile greets you at the front desk! Get to know Katie a little bit better… including her favorite childhood memory, her favorite quote, and why she enjoys volunteering at YOTO!

Name: Katie White

Originally From: The Bay Area (but has lived in Tucson for 21 years)

What was your first job?
I was a waitress at a pizzeria.

Where have you worked/volunteered?
Youth On Their Own is the only place I have consistently volunteered. I have worked many different jobs, but right now I am a Certified Nursing Assistant and am going to Nursing School.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is that no matter where you were in the house, if my dad blasted the radio, you would meet everyone in the living room for an impromptu dance party.

Please share one of your favorite quotes.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” –Chinese Proverb

If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
I would be a cat, because they always land on their feet!

When you’re not volunteering your time at YOTO, what do you like to do?
I like to kick box, go to the gym, and try new restaurants with my husband.

Why do you enjoy volunteering at YOTO?
This is a cause that is very easy to behind and does tremendous work with a very vulnerable population. Everyone who works here really believes in what they are doing and are enthusiastic about helping others!
